Lantern Night

Noodle's Lantern Night

Wick, a little round firefly with a glowing amber lantern belly, hovers in a night meadow with five friend fireflies around him, paper lanterns glowing on wooden posts and the eyes of little shadow Murk peeking from the dark

Your light is your health

A cosy firefly adventure for one thumb. Fly Wick the lantern-keeper through six night zones, gather friend fireflies that fight the Murk for you, and keep your glow alive until dawn.

The big idea

Your light is your health

There's no health bar in Lantern Night. Wick's glow is the health bar. When a Murk bumps him, his light shrinks and the dark closes in, so you see the next Murk later. Embers fill it back up.

Light

Try it: keep Wick glowing

This little meadow works like the game. Murk drift in from the dark, and outside your light you only see their eyes.

  • A Murk bumps Wick: the glow circle shrinks and the darkness creeps closer.
  • Tap an ember: it flies to Wick and the light swells back.
  • Tap a Murk to pop it into flower petals, like a friend firefly would.

In the real game your friend fireflies aim for you, embers drop from Murk and lantern posts, and hovering by an unlit lantern post makes a safe pool of light that the Murk avoid.

The lantern-keeper

Meet Wick and his friends

Wick, a round little firefly with a glowing amber belly, a brass cap with a tiny flame and a striped indigo scarf, raising a fist bravely

Small, round and a bit nervous

Wick is a firefly lantern-keeper with a glowing amber lantern for a belly and a brass cap with a real little wick on top. He is kind, a bit scared of the dark, and very brave when his friends are near.

The Murk have swallowed six night zones. Wick flies in to light them up again, one long night at a time.

  • In the darkhugging his lantern
  • With friendscheering them on
  • At dawnall smiles

Eleven friend fireflies

Friends join Wick as you level up and circle him in a glowing ring. Each one is a different way to fight back, and they aim all by themselves. Wick can bring up to six.

  • Zip

Spark Darts at the nearest Murk. Wick's first friend.

With Focus Lens becomes Comet Darts

  • Lumi

A Light Beam that shines straight through a whole line.

With Prism Glass becomes Rainbow Beam

A Glow Ring that pulses around Wick.

With Wide Glow becomes Sunrise Halo

  • Flutter

  • Sol

A Sun Flare that bursts out all around Wick.

  • Pop

Lantern Bombs lobbed into the biggest crowd.

  • Twinkle

Star Rain falling on Murk all over the screen.

With Night Clock becomes Meteor Shower

  • Crescent

A moon boomerang that flies out and swings back.

With Quick Wings becomes Full Moon

  • Buzz

Glow orbs that circle Wick and bonk anything close.

    With Long Wick becomes Starwheel

  • Volt

A Chain Zap that jumps from Murk to Murk.

With Bright Mind becomes Storm Lantern

Level up: pick one of three

Collect the light motes that beaten Murk leave behind. Each level-up slows time and fans out three cards (four with luck): a new friend, a friend upgrade, a passive like Quick Wings or Ember Heart, or an evolution.

Raise a friend to level 6 while you carry its passive and it evolves into something much brighter. Rerolls and banishes, earned in play, help you steer the build.

Cameo friends

Light a friend's lantern

Some lantern posts hide a friend from the other Noodle games. Hover next to one to light it, and they cheer Wick on with a small gift for the rest of the run. Up to three per night, and they never get in your way.

Lots to come back for
